Whitetail Valley Dairy

We are a family dairy farm that milks 320 Holstein cows with a rolling herd average of 32,026 pounds of milk, butterfat of 4.1% and protein of 3.2%.   The operation is a 5-generation farm located on 160 acres in Waupaca County.

Cows are milked 3 times a day in a double 10 herringbone parlor.

They are housed in a freestall barn bedded with sand. Dry cows and pregnant heifers are housed in a 3-sided barn with sand bedding and have access to pasture at all times. Cows and heifers are fed daily a TMR (total mixed ration) of alfalfa, corn silage and minerals formulated by our nutritionist.
Youngstock are all raised on our farm and are housed in a 3-sided barn with bedding packs for ages 2 to 6 months old. Heifers older than 6 months old are in freestalls with sand bedding.
Calves are raised in a calf barn as well as hutches. They are fed 3 times a day with pasteurized whole milk.
Herd checks are performed every other week with our veterinarian to insure the best quality health of our animals.

We farm approximately 1600 acres of a combination of alfalfa, corn, soybeans.

We hire a custom chopper to come in for chopping of alfalfa and corn silage. We combine fall crops including soybeans and dry corn ourselves. Crops are used primarily for feed, the remainder is sold as cash crops.
